What to do and when

- Make sure you allow enough time to get any repairs actioned
- Check your car over in good light and dry conditions
- Make sure it is clean inside and out. If you have just washed the car, allow it to dry
- Walk around the car inspecting every panel, don’t forget the roof. You are checking for any scratches or dents that fall outside what is deemed as fair wear and tear.
- Inspect headlamps and indicators for cracks or chips and any other damage
- Check the tyres including the spare if applicable. Check alloys for scuffs or cracks and damage
- Inspect the sat nav system, audio and any accessories that came with the car
- Check all upholstery for tears, stains and wear
- Check seat belts for any damage
- Ensure that you get any damage outside of fair wear and tear repaired
- Get everything together that came with the car ready for return. Things like spare keys, service book, valid MOT certificate if applicable, handbook etc
- Have all paperwork, keys etc together
- Make sure the car is clean inside and out
- remove all personal belongings
